Surgery is performed to remove infections from the mastoid bone which is connected to the ear. Patients having complains of hearing and ear discharge for a long time with or without pain, swelling, and redness behind the ear are candidature for this surgery. If left untreated it may lead to severe complications including disfigurement of the face, brain infection, and balance problems.
This surgery is performed under the operating microscope.
